Extinction of a specie.. Northen White rhino

Sudan - World's last surviving male northern white rhino .

Sudan is no more now .Yesterday he left us for his final abode after 45 years of struggle against the so called well developed species "Human" .

He was the last hope for the survival of his entity on this planet earth . It feels bad to witness the extiction of a subspecies just because we the humans took all the advantage of being at the highest level of food chain .

Have we done enough to respect  the space of other species that co exist with us ?

Or we are simply  ignorant and self centered and behaving as species without "well developed"  brain and emotions .

I wonder what must be Sudan's last thought when he was about to take off for his afterlife journey .He must be thankful to person who was taking care of him  at Ol Pejeta Conservancy ,but must be cursing others who were responsible for his fate on the earth .

In terms of strength , we humans are no where near to their  power and endurance , just because we have guns and sophisticated gadgets  does not make us powerful than them as they don't use any  specially developed gadgets for their defence . If they did  that , I doubt Humans will survive anymore .

This also underlines a fact that efforts of conservation are still lacking in much more aspects . Despite having all the access to new world technologies and research a species is getting extinct is not something we humans can be proud of .

Groud reality of african continent  is  that they still struggle for enough food and medical health , for them taking care of such endangered species compromising on the funds they get by promoting poaching is never a priority . Awareness of local people , addressing their local issues of food shelter, basic medical health are the allied aspects of the conservation which needs to be taken care of .

Why is this kind of rhino so rare?

Rhinoceroses - of which there are five species - are the second-largest land mammal after elephants. The white rhinoceros consists of two sub-species: the southern white rhino and the much rarer and critically endangered northern white rhino.
Sudan, who was the equivalent of 90 in human years, was the last surviving male of the rarer variety after the natural death of a second male in late 2014.
The subspecies' population in Uganda, Central African Republic, Sudan and Chad was largely wiped out during the poaching crisis of the 1970s and 1980s. Poaching was fuelled by demand for rhino horn for use in traditional Chinese medicine, and for dagger handles in Yemen.

What did Sudan die from?

The elderly rhino was being treated for degenerative changes in his muscles and bones, combined with extensive skin wounds.
Unable to stand up and suffering a great deal in his last 24 hours, Sudan was put down by veterinarians at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Lets us use  our well developed brains , heart ,  & emotions to treat our other partners in food chain  respectfully.

Planet earth belongs to them equally .

Sudan we are sorry we could not help you . 😔
